18th death anniversary of famous poet Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi was born in Dera Ghazi Khan on 5th May 1947, his parents had named him Ghulam Abbas Naqvi that in later years he changed to Mohsin Naqvi when he adopted Mohsin as his pen name.  This man of words did his graduation from Govt. College Bosan Road, Multan and earned his master’s degree from University of Punjab Lahore.  Mohsin started participating in literature and cultural activities during his college days and became a well known poet when he moved to Lahore.

Mohsin Naqvi did not only write romantic poetry but he also mastered the art of writing on human nature and against the wicked rulers of the world, he was among one of the revolutionary poets.

The poet who wrote many poems on human nature emerged as an Islamic scholar during his stay in Lahore. That was the time when he started writing religious poetry on sacred events. Mohsin’s new transformation did not go down well with religious extremist and this great asset of our country was killed by militants on 15th January 1996.

He was most famous for his books Azab-e-Deed, Berg-e-Sehra and Khaima-e-Jaan.
