ABU DHABI: The first test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will begin from tomorrow (December 31), “Sri Lanka is a tough opponent and a highly competitive team to play with, Pakistan will not take them lighter”, captain of national cricket team Misbah ul Haq commented about the match, ARY News reported.
ODI series between the two had witnessed thrilling contests, although Sri Lanka have won only two matches, but they are now boosted by the return of their primary Test match-winner in Rangana Herath, and their best batsman against spin in Mahela Jayawardene. Pakistan must a much more confident side after having victory in the limited over matches. Pakistan with addition of Younis Khan will be more solid, however he struggled against South Africa's attack, but will likely find Sri Lanka's bowlers a friendlier challenge.
Both the teams have done practice session followed by the unveiling ceremony of trophy. Misbah ul Haq said that openers are in good form and playing XI selection will be a difficult task. While Sri Lankan captan Angelo Matthews said that Jayawerdene’s inclusion will boosted the morale of the team. He denied terming Pakistan as favourite by saying that one who plays well will get success.
The pitch of Abu Dhabi is a green tinge on the eve of the match, suggesting seam bowlers may prosper on the first morning.
