Pakistan survives Afghanistan scare

SHARJAH: Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets in an one off T-20 here on Sunday, ARY News reports.

 

Afghanistan Captain Mohammad Nabi won the toss and elected to bat first.

 

Afghan batsmen could not stand firm against the world’s best bowling attack. Afghanistan batting department were helpless against the bowling of Junaid Khan and Sohail Tanveer and kept losing their wickets. 

 

Najibullah Zadran and Mirwais Ashraf however did manage to provide resistance to the Pakistani bowling. Zadran’s 38 runs and Ashraf’s unbeaten knock of 28 runs helped the side to 137 runs.

 

In reply, Pakistan’s batsmen made the easy target of 138 runs look like a tough chase. They started their reply in a cautious manner. Ahmed Shahzad scored 35 runs whereas debutant Sharjeel Khan made 18 runs.

 

The 47 run partnership by Umar Akmal and Captain Muhammad Hafeez brought the side closer to the target but the team finally won the match on the last ball of the final over in the innings.

 

Mohammad Hafeez was named the Man of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 42 runs.
