Proteas stand tall in new Test rankings

DUBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued fresh ranking of Test players in which South African players are reigning supreme, ARY News reports on Tuesday.

According to the new rankings, Proteas Captain AB De Villiers stands at top of the batsmen’s table followed by team mate Hashim Amla at number two.

Australian Captain Michael Clarke has moved to the third position due to his brilliant performance in the Adelaide Test against England. His form in the Ashes Series can bring the Kangaroos’ Captain to the top of the table.

Kiwi batsman Ross Taylor has moved up five spots in the table to land at seventh position whereas Pakistani Captain Misbah-ul-Haq has moved a place down to ninth position. Younis Khan is at tenth spot.

English Captain Alastair Cook is at 13th position.

In the bowlers ranking, Proteas pacemen Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander are present in the top two spots. Pakistani spinner Saeed Ajmal maintains his fourth spot in the ranking.

No ups and downs were seen in the all-rounder rankings. Ravi Chandra Ashwin stands at No.1.
