2nd T20: Pakistan lost by 24 runs
DUBAI: Sri Lanka has defeated Pakistan by 24 runs in the second Twenty20 at Dubai International cricket stadium, ARY News reported.
While Chasing 212 runs, Pakistan were all out on 187 in the 20th over.
Opening batsmen Sharjeel Khan departed back to pavilion soon after scoring his maiden fifty. Shahid Afridi started off aggressively but Sri Lankan wicket keeper took an extraordinary catch to dismiss him at 28 runs that came off in 13 balls.
Sohail Tanvir displayed resistance to the Sri Lankan’s attack and scored 41 runs to reduce the deficit. Saeed Ajmal supported him till the end by scoring 20 runs.
Sachithra Senanayake was the most successful bowler in their lineup with 3 wickets conceding 27 run in 4 overs while Seekkuge Prasanna and Thisara Perera took 2 wickets each.
Earlier, Sri Lankan opening pair outclassed Pakistan’s bowling attack with a 100 runs opening stand in 12 overs.
Kusal Perera scored his career best 84 runs and got run out at the last ball of the match while Tilkaratne Dilshan remained 2 runs short of his half century and got out off Saeed Ajmal.
Late hitting of Sri Lankan veteran Kumara Sanagkarra stretched the score to past 200. He made 44 off just 21 balls.
