6 prisoners flee away from police custody
FAISALABAD: 5 dangerous prisoners were released from the police custody after their accomplices opened fire at a police van carrying the prisoners and managed to run away from the scene – ARY News reports.
According to details, the prisoners were on their way back to the prison near Tandlianwala area, after the police presented them before a district court in Sahiwal. Officials told that some 7 assailants attacked the police vehicle and manage to get away with 5 prisoners charged with robberies and murder.
During the ambush, 2 cops named Nawaz and Saeed were also injured.
Among the fleeing prisoners, one had a head money of Rs 2 lacs.
SP Rana Shujaat confirmed the incident, adding that the injured 2 constables are in critical condition in THQ Hospital, Tandlianwala.
Meanwhile, another prisoner fled from the court premises in Rawalpindi. The accused named Farrukh Khokhar was brought for hearing in Sabira Bibi murder case from Adiyala Jail.
The accomplices of the accused came in a twin-cab vehicle and whisked him away waving arms in hands, while the police has formed search teams and surrounded the vicinity.
Moreover, the RPO Umer Akhter Laleka suspended 6 policemen and a jail guard for showing negligence and arrested them all.
