71st Foundation Day of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is being marked today

MUZZAFFARABAD: The 71st Foundation Day of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is being marked on Wednesday (today) with national zeal and fervor.

Main ceremony of the day will be held at the Police Lines here, which will be addressed by President AJK, Masood Khan and Prime Minister, Raja Farooq Hyder.

Special prayers are being offered for the prosperity and development of the region and early liberation of Indian held Kashmir.

Yesterday, the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur said that government is planning to make a film on the issue of Occupied Kashmir to unveil the ugly face of Indian occupation.

The Minister said the minorities facing various problems in India and feeling insecure due to the Hindu extremist organizations. India violating the rules of United Nations about the human rights and religious freedom, he said.

Commenting over the performance of Government during its hundred days, the minister said social survey has been launched in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan to collect data about the basic facilities regarding health and education.

The government is committed to address the problems of people at their door step, he added.

Gandapur said government already had formulated a task-force about the promotion and development of tourism sector as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan are very rich for tourism industry and will attract million of visitors from all over the world.

Earlier this month, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan met with the British MP, Tony Llyod to highlight Indian atrocities.

Mr Masood said that India is attempting to change the demography of Occupied Kashmir by converting Kashmiris into a minority.

Speaking to media along with British Member of the Parliament, the AJK president said New Delhi will not succeed in its evil designs to suppress the freedom movement of Kashmiris by resorting to such cowardly acts.

Masood Khan said scores of people of Azad Kashmir were martyred due to unprovoked Indian firing at the Line of Control. He urged India to abide by the 2003 ceasefire agreement.
