74MW electricity to be added to national grid soon: CM Mahmood

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Saturday said that 74 megawatts electricity would be included in national grid soon, ARY News reported.

Presiding over a meeting of Energy and Power Department, CM Mahmood Khan said that 74 megawatts electricity would be produced by Payhor, Ranwalia, Machai and Dral Khor power projects.

The chief minister said that the province would generate over Rs2bn annually by the power projects. He said that the government was planning to establish a power transmission company so as to provide electricity to business community on cheaper rates in the province.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, on January 13, had directed to expedite work on ongoing hydro-power projects in the province.

Chairing a meeting in Peshawar, Mahmood Khan had said that Chashma Right Bank lift project would play an important role for the revival of economic stability and added that the project would also improve the agriculture sector in the province.

He had said that a separate institute would be established for inclusion of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) related projects.
