Former PM Abbasi received with “Go Shahid Go” chants in his constituency

RAWALPINDI: Voters chanted “Go Shahid Go” as former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi visited his constituency NA-71 to address a public meeting as part of the election campaign.

A number of voters deeply disappointed by the outcome of the last five years rule of the PML-N, have refused to vote again for the same candidate.

Abbasi is contesting as a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was rejected as the preferred candidate by the residents of Kotli Sattian stating his alleged incompetence.

PML-N candidate for PP-207 Amir Hayat was also blasted by the locals of Tulamba, where he went to address the voters as part of the election campaign. The voters questioned Hayat:

“Where was he for the last five years?”

“You didn’t have time for us and now we don’t have time for you,” some of them said.

The PML-N candidate’s efforts to pacify the public went in vain.

The residents of Kandhkot district in Sindh also refused to accept Sardar Ahsaan ur Rehman Mazari as their choice for vote.

Mazari who is the candidate of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for the National Assembly constituency NA-197, was cornered and questioned about his competence to represent them, by the voters during an event of the election campaign.

The media has reported scores of incidents during the ongoing campaign for general elections on July 25, where discontented voters’ have grilled prominent candidates of mainstream political parties during their election drive, indicating a new positive trend of accountability in Pakistan’s democratic project.
