ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said he abhorred greasing the lawmakers’ palms and his party has never been indulged in the horse-trading.

He expressed these sentiments outside the accountability court during a brief interaction with the media.

Sharif said he personally loathed buying and purchase of votes.

On the occasion, he also expressed sympathy with the political parties affected as result of the horse-trading in Senate elections.

Moreover, the former premier offered support to the parties airing their grievances against bribing their members. “We are ready to talk and form a strategy to deal with this issue,” Sharif said.

Sattar accuses PPP of squaring party MPAs in Senate polls

Earlier on Sunday, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Dr. Farooq Sattar accused Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of greasing the party MPAs’ palms to change their loyalties, costing his party a humiliating defeat in the Senate elections.

Addressing a press conference at his residence in PIB Colony in Karachi, Sattar said the ruling party in Sindh, PPP, squared his party MPAs to cast their votes to the PPP candidates. He conceded that at least 14 MPAs out of total 37 MQM-P MPAs didn’t cast their ballots to the party.

“Some of our party MPAs reached Sindh Assembly along with the PPP MPAs. They went straight to the chamber of the chief minister before casting their votes to the PPP,” he then said.

PPP, secured 10 out of 12 seats for Senate from Sindh and surprisingly won one general seat and one seat reserved for women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where it has total seven MPAs.
