KARACHI: The administration of Quaid’s Mausoleum on Thursday made an ARY News reporter subject to severe torture for making video footage of the mausoleum, ARY News reported.

The administration kept the reporter, Abdul Qadir, in wrongful confinement, for performing his professional responsibilities.

ARY News correspondent Nazir Shah said the mausoleum’s security in-charge Asif along his security guards tortured the Islamabad-based reporter despite his introducing himself. Abdul Qadir arrived in Karachi for making a documentary on Quaid’s Mausoleum out of respect for the founder of Pakistan, he said.

Senior analysts are of the opinion that the security members should have adopted a legal way if it was any breach of law. How come can they torture somebody like this? they asked.

Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Murtaza Wahab has taken notice of the incident and directed the concerned authorities to present him a detailed report in this regard.

“The Sindh government will ensure security of journalists at every cost,” he said.
