Aeronautical charges from local routes deducted: Shahrukh Nusrat

KARACHI: Secretary Aviation and Chairman Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Shahrukh Nusrat on Saturday said aeronautical charges from local routes had been taken off; consequently, passengers would have to give 1,000 rupees less than the current charges, ARY News reported.

Talking to media after a meeting with the heads of chartered airlines the CAA headquarters, Shahrukh Nusrat said a detailed discussion was held with all the stakeholders on the new aviation policy.

He said apprehensions of heads of chartered airlines were addressed during the meeting.

The secretary aviation said the cost of doing business had been reduced from the previous aviation policy. Operators had been given Rs4 billion relief, he added.

He said tourism promotion and regional license had been introduced.

“About 3.8 million people are annually travelling through aircrafts in Pakistan. Modern technologies will also be provided for cargo services,” he said.

On April 17, the CAA had designed a plan to implement ‘Road to Makkah’ project for Hajj operation 2019.

The CAA had prepared a feasibility report for departure of Hajj pilgrims and the facilities being extended to them.

Data of 150 officers and staff had been collected to assist the pilgrims at Jinnah International Airport Karachi.
