DELHI: Resignation of Afghanistan ambassador to India came as a flabbergasted announcement for the Afghan government on Wednesday when President Ashraf Ghani was concluding his visit to Dehli meanwhile.
Ambassador to India Dr Shaida Mohammad Abdali tendered his resignation on Wednesday, the diplomat announced his resignation on Twitter, at the end of President Ashraf Ghani’s day-long visit to Delhi.
In what he dubbed as “a tough but appealing decision” he took to Twitter to announce his resignation.
Stepping Down – A tough but an appealing decision: On a high note ending a successful visit of HE the Afghan President in India, I resigned today as the Afghan Ambassador to India. Serving in India for more than six years was indeed a great honor and privilege… pic.twitter.com/VcfUA1ULGF

“Serving my country for years in India, I felt the need to return and serve my country from within,” Dr Abdali wrote while attaching a snapshot of his resignation letter.

The Indian media is reporting that the timing of Dr Abdali’s resignation cemented the speculation regarding his rift with the Ghani government and has plans to run for office on his return from India.
