Afridi says he never went after captaincy

KARACHI: Pakistan star all-rounder Shahid Afridi reiterated on Friday his stand on leading the team, saying he never ‘went after captaincy', ARY News reported.

Talking to media, Afridi said every player wanted to lead team as a captain. “I will decide my future keeping in view my fitness.”

To a question, Afridi said he might ponder over quitting international cricket after the World Cup 2015.

The hard-hitting batsman had also recently made headlines when he hinted at his desire to lead team as a captain.

Afridi had come under fire by different local experts for openly expressing his captaincy wish. However, some senior cricketers including Shoaib Akhtar have been quite vocal in backing Afridi as captain for WC 2015.
