Afridi sees T20 captaincy as a challenge

KARACHI: Pakistan’s all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi, who was recently appointed as Twenty20 captain until the 2016 World Cup, considers another chance of leading the team as an honor, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media at National Cricket Stadium, Karachi today, Shahid Afridi said that he has accepted the captaincy in the shorter format of the game as a challenge. He said captain’s form matter a lot to achieve desired results.

Afridi, 34, expressed hope of performing well in the domestic T20 tournament. He said domestic T20 tournament is the best platform for the youngsters to show their abilities.

Shahid Afridi’s previous stint as captain was from August 2009 to April 2011. Pakistan under Afridi’s leadership played 19 Twenty20 internationals, wining eight of them while lost 11.
