KARACHI: Advocate General (AG) Sindh on Monday raised his objection over the Supreme Court’s directive to conduct the medical examination of the money laundering accused from the hospital of Punjab.

During the hearing of formation of a medical board in money laundering through fake bank accounts case, AG Sindh opposed the apex court’s move, saying that it will give an impression that Sindh lacks qualified doctors.

The top court ordered Surgeon General to constitute a medical board for the examination of the accused Anwar Majeed, Abdul Ghani Majeed and Hussain Lawai. The board was also asked to submit a report in three days to the court.

When the Assistant Advocate General (AAG) Sindh pleaded the court to form a board from Sindh, the Chief Justice Saqib Nisar remarked “I don’t know why are you bringing ‘provincialism’ in a mere medical examination.”

The medical examination is being conducted by an independent institute, why Sindh government is agitated with an independent media examination, he vehemently questioned.

Seemi Jamali, Medical Superintendent (MS) of Jinnah Medical Complex Karachi, who also appeared before the court was taken to task by the top judge.

“I tried to cover you up and did not go near the MRI machine,” who was inside the MRI machine?, Justice Nisar snapped Dr. Seemi.

Is this all not a failure of Sindh government? “Don’t compel me to give remarks against the Sindh government,” Chief Justice Nisar lambasted.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on September 14, requested the Supreme Court to constitute a medial board for the examination of high profile personalities accused in a money laundering scam.
