Pakistani actor Ahad Raza Mir has won Betty Mitchell Award for his role in theatre play Hamlet: A Ghost Story.

He was nominated in the Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Drama category last month by 22nd Annual Betty Mitchell Awards, which aims to recognise excellence in Calgary’s Professional Theatre Community.

The heartthrob has made Pakistan proud at an international forum by getting recognised for his acting skills. He recently shared in an interview that he hopes to inspire young people to act on stage if they are passionate about it. The actor said that after seeing him perform in Hamlet, youngsters from Pakistani community in Canada auditioned for theatre plays which was a first.

He revealed that his mother was actually scared of him when she saw his performance which meant he was doing something right.

Before his debut for the silver screen, Mir was a theatre actor and got back to his roots with the portrayal of Hamlet in the Shakespearean play, performed between March 20 to April 13 in Canada.
