Aisam-Bopanna ends runner-up in Sydney International

SYDNEY: Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna faced a defeat on Saturday in the men’s double final of Sydney International tennis, ARY News reported.

The third seeded Pak-Indo pair squared off Canadian Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia in the final.

Nestor-Zimonijic defeated Aisam-Bopanna with the two straight sets victory by 7-6 (3), 7-6(3) in the battle of one hour and 35 minutes.

Bopanna and Qureshi saved all five break chances on their serves but could not convert even one of the seven chances they got to clinch the title.

The Pak-Indo duo will now head to Australian Open with some good match practice under their belt as they aim to win their first Grand Slam.
