Akon urges Pakistanis to donate to Diamer Bhasha, Mohmand dam fund
In a video message that shocked the nation, renown American Singer Akon requested Pakistanis to donate generously to the Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dam fund, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
Citing a United Nations (UN) report which states that Pakistan might face scarcity of water by 2025, the famous singer said, “In a special message from me to Pakistan, according to a report issued by the UN, water resources in Pakistan will dry out by 2025. I’m encouraging all of Pakistan and Pakistanis around the world to donate money to this Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dam so we can mobilise Pakistan into a better future.”
The R&B artist will be arriving in Pakistan in April to perform in Lahore and Karachi between 26th and 29th April, later this year.
Foreshadowing his visit to Pakistan, the ‘ChammakChallo’ intoner says, “It’s time to rock Pakistan, I am looking forward to visiting Karachi and Lahore. So let’s get it down in Pakistan with World Soccer Stars.”
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has closely been monitoring the progress being made for the construction of the aforementioned dams. He ordered creation of the dam fund last year and appealed to Pakistanis all around the world to donate for this cause.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also concurred the top judge’s initiative.
