Alleged desecration of Holy Quran triggers tension in Sindh, Balochistan
LARKANA: Tension gripped some districts of Sindh and Balochistan after reports of alleged desecration of the Holy Quran in Larkana on Saturday, ARY News reported.
In view of worsening law and order, FC personnel were also called in Jaffarabad. FC spokesman said their personnel had assumed their position in the district.
Heavy contingent of police was deployed across Larkana along with a ban on pillion riding in the district. A shutter-down was also observed in Usta Muhammad district of Balochistan and Sohbatpur.
On Saturday, people attacked temple in Larkana, sparking fear in the neighbourhood. Ten shops were also set ablaze inUsta Muhammad ten after the tension intensified.
PPP MNA from Larkana, Ayaz Soomro, also tried to calm the situation by reaching the spot. The government officials have not confirmed reports of alleged desecration of the Holy Quran.
The police, however, have arrested the person who allegedly desecrated the holy book.
