Altaf appeals Karzai to review Faizullah’s term on humanitarian grounds

LONDON: Altaf Hussain, Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), on Monday appealed the Afghan President, Hamid Karzai to review the punishment awarded to Faizullah Khan on humanitarian grounds – ARY News reports.

In his letter to the Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Altaf Hussain stated that Faizullah Khan is a journalist and he had gone to the north-western tribal region of Pakistan in pursuance of his professional responsibilities, where from he mistakenly crossed the Pak-Afghan border and entered into Afghanistan.

He appealed Karzai to review the punishment awarded to him, on humanitarian grounds.

The MQM Chief requested the Afghan President to end the four years’ term of Faizullah and to ensure his safe return to Pakistan.

Hussain also appealed the Government of Pakistan to make all possible efforts on diplomatic level, to get the term ended and for the return of the detained journalist back to Pakistan.

Moreover, he expressed his heartfelt sympathies for the family of Faizullah Khan in this difficult hour.
