Amir Khan confirms filing for divorce from Faryal Makhdoom
LONDON: It apparently looks Amir Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom are averse to reunite as the famed boxer – in the latest development – has confirmed filing for a divorce from his estranged wife.
In a video message to his fans on Snapchat, 30-year-old boxer said that the couple has been going through a bitter separation after the collapse of their four-year marriage.
He said: “So I and Faryal are not together. I have filed for a divorce. I hear she’s just announced that she’s pregnant. She didn’t tell me, I had to read it on social media.”
Casting doubt on Faryal’s pregnancy claims, he said that he does not know if it’s true, adding, only time will tell.
Khan said that the couple thinks it’s not healthy to be together as it’s not healthy for their kids either. “I don’t want my child to see us fighting and filing for custody,” he added.
Affirming support to Faryal, he said that the duo wants to work together to raise their children.
“In the meantime, I’m there for Lamaisah. Lamaisah is everything to me,” the boxer said of his 3-year-old firstborn. “I’m always going to be there for my kids. We’re [him and Faryal] not together, but my kids are everything to me.”
He added, “Obviously, if there’s another kid I’m going to show my support and be there for Faryal.”
It seems like the two have parted their ways as last month, reportedly, Faryal had said she does not need Amir’s help in raising the second child: “I don’t need his help.”
