LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle heroin out of the country and seized 250 grammes of heroin hidden in a consignment of oil filters at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, ARY News reported.
According to ANF officials, the consignment was to be shipped to Canada.
Acting on a secret information, the officials checked the consignment, which led to recovery of heroin worth millions of rupees.
Earlier, on April 3, the ANF had foiled a bid to smuggle drugs to Italy while taking action at Faisalabad airport.
According to the ANF spokesperson, officials recovered seven kilogrammes of heroin worth Rs60 million in the international market during a raid conducted at Faisalabad airport. The alleged smuggler was taken into custody.
