781,000 Faisalabad children to be vaccinated against polio in latest drive

FAISALABAD: Sardar Saifullah Dogar, Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad, Assistant Commissioner City Shumaila Manzoor along with MPA Shakil Shahid on Monday paid a surprise visit to a government dispensary at Sheikhupura Road and inspected the Anti Polio drive, ARY News reported.

As many as 781,000 children of under five years of age will be vaccinated in the latest Anti-Polio drive launched by the district administration in Tehsil City and Sadar of district Faisalabad.

Deputy District Health Officer Dr Sibtain and other health officials were also present on this occasion.

The assistant commissioner and the MPA administered polio drops to children and directed the polio teams to ensure none of the children was left out.

Ms Manzoor urged the staff to achieve a 100 per cent target and said monitoring would continue till the last day of the campaign.

MPA Shahid said that the present government had focused its full attention to eradicating the polio virus from the country and back-to-back anti-polio drives were being held to that end.

Meanwhile, MPA Firdous Rai inaugurated the special Anti-Polio campaign at General Bus Stand in Faisalabad.

Secretary Regional Transport Authority Zameer Hussain, President Rotary Club Mubashar Butt, and representatives of different non-governmental organisations (NGOs) were also present.

The MPA administered polio drops to the children and said that every polio round was significant in achieving the goal of ‘polio-free Pakistan’, therefore, health department must fulfil its responsibilities to reach out to every child.
