Drama ensued yesterday when it was reported that Pakistan had denied veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher a visa to attend the Karachi Literature Festival on February 5th. Kher blamed Pakistani High Commission for the mistake and refuted their claim that he had not even applied for the visa. Anupam held a press conference and claimed the organisers of the Karachi Literature Festival had applied for his visa, he hadn’t. However, in a tweet, Anupam Kher thanked Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit for offering him the visa but said he had ‘given away dates now’.

Yesterday, Anupam Kher had also questioned as to why he was being denied the visa, in a tweet. “Has my visa been denied because I speak about India’s rich tradition of tolerance or I am a Kashmiri Pandit who may expose the Pakistan terror nexus?” he had posted.
