Appointment of Irfan Siddiqui as special assistant to PM challenged in court

TOP NEWS

ISLAMABAD: The appointment of Irfan Siddiqui as Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Affairs was challenged at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday, ARY News reported.

A petitioner, Shahid Orakzai, challenged the appointment of Mr. Siddiqui as Special to PM on National Affairs and member of the government committee for peace talks with the Taliban.

Orakzai, who is a social worker, said Mr. Siddiqui was appointed on important and sensitive government positions without taking a constitutional oath.

In a petition, he argued that the prime minister had not publicized the notification of appointment of Mr. Siddiqui.

Justice Noor Qureshi also sought copy of the notification, before adjourning the case for two weeks.

The petitioner said he would try obtaining copy of the notification in a given period of two weeks.
