Arms licenses to be cancelled if not verified by June 30, says Add. Interior Sec'y

ISLAMABAD: The Additional Interior Secretary has said that 50 percent of the arms licenses in the country are not verified and the licenses not verified till June 30, will be cancelled – ARY News reports.

According to details, the meeting of the sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) held today at the Parliament House, which was chaired by Ashiq Gopang. During the meeting, the Additional Interior Secretary briefed the committee. On this occasion, the PAC expressed its displeasure over the non-verification of arms licenses.

The Additional Interior Secretary told that the Ministry of Interior is correcting the record and figures of arms licenses, prior to taking any step against illegal arms or non-verified licenses.

He told that the Government is doing so, in order to take some effective measures against illegal weapons, several campaigns were lodged in the past but, none yield considerable results.
