Army Chief and Prime Minister meet Saudi FM separately

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir met with the Prime Minister and Pakistan Army Chief. During his meetings with the two, he praised Pakistan’s efforts in eradicating terrorism.

Earlier, Saudi minister was scheduled to visit Pakistan from 3rd to 4th January but his visit to the country was postponed. The Saudi Foreign Minister landed in Pakistan today on Thursday. On Monday, he had met with Egyptian Foreign Minister in Saudi Arabia.

Adel al-Jubeir is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan and during his stay in the country, he is likely to meet with important members of the government in the country. His joint press conference with Sartaj Aziz, Foreign Affairs adviser to the Prime Minister, has been delayed.

During the meeting, a couple of important topics related to the regional situation will be discussed. Pakistan’s role as a member of the 34-state coalition will also be discussed. Also, Pakistan’s stance during the on-going Saudi Arabia-Iran tension is also likely to be discussed in meetings with the Saudi Foreign Minister.

Before the Adel al-Jubeir’s visit to the country, parliamentarians had stated that Pakistan should stay out of the current Iran-Saudi Arabia conflict and adopt a neutral stance.
