Army chief, PM discuss strategy to root out terrorism

The meeting, attended by Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and senior military officials, discussed current security situation in the country.

It was decided in a meeting that an amendment would be brought into the anti terrorism laws to tighten measures and ensure early conviction of terrorists.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also accompanied the prime minister.

Director General ISI Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar gave a detailed briefing to the meeting on security situation.

The meeting also focused on the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation and the future course of action following the recent attack of terrorists at a school in Peshawar that killed more than 140 persons, mostly children.
