Army Chief Raheel Sharif pays tribute to martyrs of the nation
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif has said that Pakistan Army, police and all other security institutions as well as the people of Pakistan have rendered great sacrifices for the defence of the country, which can never be forgotten – ARY News reports.
While addressing a ceremony with respect to Youm e Shuhada e Pakistan at the General Head Quarters (GHQ) here on Wednesday, Army Chief, General Raheel Sharif paid a tribute to the martyrs and their families. He also praised the sacrifices by the police and other security agencies.
The COAS also praised the people of Pakistan for standing by the forces in all difficult times and said that the relation between the Army and the people will be further strengthened, in the days to come.
He said that the armed forces of Pakistan are all time prepared for defending state against any kind of threats.
General Raheel Sharif further told that along with the national institutions, the role of media and civil society is also important for the country.
Meanwhile, several ceremonies were held on Wednesday in almost all of the cities including Karachi, Quetta, Lahore and Hyderabad, where officials of the armed forces of Pakistan and scores of common masses gathered to pay a tribute to the martyrs, who laid their lives in order to secure the future of the country and its people.
