Soulful songs to boost Team Pakistan for World Cup 2015

TOP NEWS

Every four years, the Pakistani cricket team competes in the international mega tournament. In order to back their team and cash in on the trending competition, Pakistani artists come up with popular tunes and emotional lyrics to egg their team on.

Social media phenomena, comedian and rapper Ali Gul Pir has drifted away from his usual comic style and wrote a song for the green shirts titled ‘Shor Machao’ to lift their spirits ahead of the cricket world cup.

Following the ‘Bara Dushman Bana Phirta Hai’ song, the ISPR has come forward and backed Misbah XI by releasing the song Khul Ke Khel, an anthem urging the cricketers to shed fear of losing and lead the way to victory.

However, the song which has created the most buzz and been well received is the Phir se Game Utha Dein. Featuring an ensemble cast doing the singing honours, Atif Aslam, Faisal Kapadia,Israr, bakground vocalists of Coke Studio and even Javed Miandad lent their voices to the carefully drafted song! Phir Se Game Utha Dein is inspired by the 1992 World Cup anthem but is more of a soulful song. Needless to say, it is far more effective and all collaborators have done a fine job.

Rahat fateh Ali Khan also didn’t shy away from putting his weight behind the lads in green and sang ‘Shukriya Pakistan’ in which Shahid Afridi, Humayun Saeed and football captain Esa Khan also featured.

Ali Haider also made a world cup song which was well received by the nation.
