Arrest my friends but shoot me first: Zulfiqar Mirza
According to reports, Dr.Zulfiqar Mirza himself stepped out of the door of his farmhouse with a klashnikov and challenged police to shoot him first and then proceed to arrest his sympathizers.
Dr.Zulfiqar Mirza had announced that he would reach Hyderabad High Court tomorrow from his farmhouse in Badin along with loyalists and supporters, in the form of a rally.
All paths leading to Mirza’s farmhouse were sealed by the police. In Benazirabad, thousands of Pakistan Peoples Party workers took out a demonstration in Badin to protest Mirza’s use of derogatory language against PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his sister, Faryal Talpur. Speaking on the occasion, District President PPP Benazirabad Akbar Jamali stated that Mirza was a thankless person who should issue a public apology to Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur and keep his tongue in check.
Mirza, who used to be a childhood friend of Asif Ali Zardari and a close confidant of the ex-President before their fallout, has been recently lashing out at the party’s leadership and issuing provocative statements against key PPP members, including Asif Ali Zardari. Mirza resigned as Home Minister Sindh in 2011 after differences with PPP’s then ally MQM crossed the threshold.
