ISLAMABAD: FIA submitted its inquiry report in special court as the treason case hearing against former president Pervez Musharraf resumed on Wednesday, ARY News reported.
The FIA report comprised of 237 pages included statements of 26 witnesses. The report says that Musharraf was asked to be part of the inquiry but his staff said that he was ailing and could not record his statement to the probe.
According to the report in year 2007, than interior secretary Shahid Mehmood, secretary cabinet division Masood Alam Rizvi, Sharifuddin Pirzada and Malik Qayyum had refused to be part of the consultations for declaration of emergency.
Chief Prosecutor today submitted a list of 10 witnesses to the three-member court headed by Justice Faisal Arab. Prosecution has requested to the bench for summoning witnesses to record their statements.
Justice Faisal Arab said that the name of the incumbent interior secretary, who happened to be the complainant of the case, was not included in witnesses, which should be added in the list of witnesses. The interior secretary will record his statements in the next hearing of the case on May 22.
Earlier, the court given time to the counsels of two sides for consultations to decide which witness should be called first to record his statement before the court.
The court adjourned its hearing untill May 22nd.
