Police produced accused Khurram Buland, an activist of MQM, before the ATC judge under stringent security.

Police officials informed the court that the accused had facilitated the attackers of the news channel office and given them shelter in his bank.

The judge after hearing the argument granted one day’s physical remand of the accused to the police.

The workers of MQM on August 22 had stormed ARY News’ Saddar office and destroyed the office’s reception, marketing section, harassed workers and set ablaze vehicles of the channel employees.

The attack occurred after the party chief Altaf Hussain’s speech from London in which he allegedly incited the workers to attack media houses.

The party’s Karachi Rabita Committee dissociated itself from Altaf Hussain’s controversial statement while some senior members including Amir Liaquat Hussain and Irum Azeem Farooque left the party.
