Asia Cup 2014: Sri Lanka bats first against Afghanistan

TOP NEWS

DHAKA: Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews won the toss and elected to bat first against Afghanistan in their Asia Cup 2014 encounter on a pitch which is likely to remain slow as the match will progress here at Mirpur at Dhaka, ARY News reports on Monday.

Mohammad Nabi, Captain of Afghanistan team, was not bothered by losing the toss and said that he would have chose to field first.

Sri Lanka will be looking forward to book their place in the final after a win over Afghanistan today. However, the Afghan side will be looking for playing the final after beating the hosts Bangladesh in the game earlier.

Suranga Lakmal will be playing instead of Sachithra Senanayake who flew back to his country after his wife gave birth to his first child. Afghanistan, on the other hand, has made two changes to their side. Dawlat Zadran will replace Hamid Hassa and opener Noor Zadran will play instead of Karim Sadiq.

The weather conditions will not play a role as the match progresses.

Afghanistan XI: Mohammad Shahzad, Noor Ali Zadran, Asghar Stanikzai, Nawroz Mangal, Mohammad Nabi, Samiullah Shenwari, Najibullah Zadran, Mirwais Ashraf, Hamza Hotak, Dawlat Zadran and Shapoor Zadran

Sri Lanka XI: Kusal Perera, Lahiru Thirimanne, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews, Chaturanga de Silva, Thisara Perera, Lasith Malinga, Ajantha Mendis and Suranga Lakmal.
