Asia Cup: Pakistan to take on Afghanistan

TOP NEWS

FATULLAH: Pakistan and the debutant of Asia Cup, Afghanistan will compete each other at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah on Thursday, ARY News reported.

So far in the tournament the pitch of Fatullah has offered very little signs of encouragement to the bowlers and the same behavior is likely to continue. Furthermore, dew might make a difference in the second half of the day as some appeared on today’s match of India-Bangladesh.

After losing the opening game Pakistan would likely to bounce back to gain momentum in the tournament.

Pakistan's pressing concern would be in ridding the inadequacies of their batting order. Most of the top-order batsmen seem content with eye-catching cameos. Shahid Afridi continues to play with disastrous abandon.

On the other hand, for Afghanistan tackling the spin would be the major test for their batsmen. As Saeed Ajmal proved his trickery does not require a friendly pitch in the Asia Cup opener and, though, he is yet to open his tally against Afghanistan, one feels from his performance, it is only a matter of time.

The main responsibility lies on Afghan captain Ghammad Nabi and Mohammad Shahzad, a firecracker in the top order and it will be interesting to see if they can harness their natural instincts appropriately.

The match will start at 13:00 PST.
