Asia Cup: Rehman barred from bowling after 3 consecutive beamers in a match

TOP NEWS

DHAKA: In a rare incident during a cricket match, Pakistan spinner Abdur Rehman was barred from bowling after he bowled three consecutive beamers to Bangladesh batsman in an Asia Cup match, ARY News reported Tuesday.

Pakistan captain Misbah-ulHaq brought Rehman in the 11th over after Bangladesh opening pair progressed their innings steadily without losing a wicket on a score of 39 at the end of 10th over.

After bowling two consecutive beamers to Imrul Kayes in his first over, Rehman changed his side and bowled round the wicket to correct his angle, but to no avail. To everyone’s surprise, he even bowled the third ball as a beamer, thus drawing ire of the umpire, who called Misbah and stated categorically the bowler could not continue anymore for his violation of the game rules.

Abdur Rehman was consequently barred from bowling in the match anymore. The skipper replaced him with Fawad Alam who began an over afresh, leaking only two runs. Earlier, Rehman had given 6 six runs, with a four hit on a third beamer.
