Pakistan won their previous Asia Cup encounter in 2014 against Bangladesh by three wickets. However, the hosts had whitewashed the green shirts in the three-match one-day series last year.

Pakistan lost to India by five wickets in their first match of the tournament but went on to beat United Arab Emirates by seven wickets in their second game. The green shirts have to win their upcoming matches if they are to face their South Asian arch-rivals in the final.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, were handed a 45-run defeat at the hands of India in the opening match of the main draw but the hosts went on to beat United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan’s Khurram Manzoor can be rested in today’s game due to his below par performance in the two games.

Bangladesh player Mahmudullah, who is out of the Asia Cup due to a shoulder injury, is likely to be replaced by Tamim Iqbal.
