ASWJ for Ashra e Farooq-o-Hussain (RA) from Muharram 1 to 10

KARACHI: Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) on Friday announced to observe ‘Ashra e Farooq-o-Hussain (RA)’ from 1-10 Muharram ul Haram and demanded the government to announce an official holiday on first of Muharram on account of Day of Martyrdom of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA), ARY News reported.

According to details, newly elected president of ASWJ, Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqui upon his arrival in Karachi said that the purpose of observing Ashra e Farooq-o-Hussain (RA), is to end sectarianism, highlighting the teachings of these personalities and to promote love and harmony.

He told that his party is making contacts with different religious and political parties, in order to ensure interfaith harmony during the month of Muharram.

On this occasion, Farooqui also demanded the government for an official holiday on first of Muharram on account of Day of Martyrdom of the second Caliph of the Muslims, Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA).

He condemned yesterday’s suicide attack on JUIF chief, Maulana Fazlur Rahman and said that such incidents taking place ahead of Muharram, is a moment of great concern.

Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqui further said that his party’s workers are being arrested and killed extra-judicially in Karachi, yet no measures are being taken to curb such practices.

Moreover, he condemned Indian aggression at the Line of Control and Working Boundary, and said that Ahle Sunnat people are standing by the armed forces of Pakistan and will not refrain from rendering any sacrifice for the defense of the nation and the homeland.
