ATC puts Johar Hussain on remand for killing 6 in assault on Aurangzeb Farooqi

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has handed over the accused Johar Hussain to police on physical remand till February 16, who is alleged of an assault on Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) leader, Allama Aurangzeb Farooqi and killing of 6 people including 4 policemen – ARY News reports.

According to details, Crime Branch police presented the accused in the ATC on Monday, Johar Hussain was arrested by CID police and DSP Raja Umer Khattab had formally announced his arrest in a press conference a few days ago.

Police told that the accused Johar Hussain is affiliated with banned Sipah-e-Muhammad, whilst he was trained in Iran.

Johar Hussain is alleged of an assault on Allama Aurangzeb Farooqi along with his accomplices on December 25, 2012 in Gulshan Iqbal area of the metropolis.

During the attack on ASWJ leader, policemen named Rashid, Waheed Khan, Imran and Salim were killed, whilst 2 bodyguards AbdulWakeel and Abdullah were also gunned down by the accused and his accomplices.

The remaining of his accomplices Muhammad Ali, Syed Wasim, Nisar Hussain, Adnan, Irfan, Abbas and another man are wanted to police.
