Atif Aslam silent on Pak-India tensions, continues Indian projects

TOP NEWS

Pakistani singer Atif Aslam is facing severe criticism for being the “biggest beneficiary” of the Indian entertainment industry at a time when the neighbouring country is aggressively campaigning to defame Pakistan at all forums, ARY News reported

Whereas doors of the Indian entertainment industry have shut on Pakistani artists after an increase in tensions between India and Pakistan due to Indian adventurism, Mr Aslam is still apparently unfazed by the undue criticism that Pakistan is facing at the hands of India.

A cursory look at his Twitter account reveals that the famed artist didn’t bother posting a single tweet in support of his country when the entire entertainment industry stood behind the Pakistani government and armed forces.

Sources told this scribe that Mr Aslam is still in contact with promoters in the Indian entertainment industry for possible future work contracts and ongoing projects.

Furthermore, sources have informed that Mr Aslam’s bank accounts are still receiving the royalty from India.

It’s not the first time when Mr Aslam is in the spotlight for his attitude. He has previously refused from carrying the Pakistani flag in a Pakistan Day parade in New York.

Mr Aslam was contacted by ARY News several times, but he refused from commenting on the matter.

Veteran actor Shan Shahid, while taking to ARY News, said that even though the love for country cannot be forced upon someone, there are times when it becomes necessary to ascertain national identity.

“Pakistan is our identity; I condemn Atif Aslam’s refusal from carrying Pakistani flag in New York”, he said.
