Attack on Tahira is an attempt to suppress MQM’s voice in Punjab: Khalid Maqbool
LAHORE: Deputy Convener of MQM RC Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui termed the assassination attempt of MNA Tahira Asif as a new try to suppress ideology of ‘Haq Parasti’, ARY News reported.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was talking to media outside Shaikh Zayed Hospital on Thursday after inquiring health of Tahira Siddiqui. He said evil powers are afraid of MQM’s increasing popularity among the people of Punjab and doing heinous conspiracies against MQM.
Deputy Convener of MQM RC complained that Punjab government didn’t took the notice of Tahira’s concern over continuous threats adding that having foolproof security was the basic right of Tahira.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that whole nation is praying for the speedy recovery of Tahira.
On Wednesday, unidentified gunmen attacked the Member National Assembly of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement Tahira Asif in Lahore Motorway, leaving her seriously injured.
MNA Tahira Asif sustained three bullets in her back and was immediately shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital.
According to sources, Tahira is still in critical condition and she has been on ventilator in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Shaikh Zayed Hospital.
On the other hand, her husband has been receiving threatening call since morning.
