CENTURION: Australia defeated South Africa by six wickets in the third Twenty20 International to seal the three match series 2-0 here at Supersport Park in Centurion, ARY News reports on Saturday.
Taking notice of the wet conditions and a saw dust filled ground, Australian Captain George Bailey won the toss and elected to field first.
Proteas opener Quinton de Kock provided the only worth mentioning contribution to the team as he made 41 runs from 40 balls whereas the rest of the side could not even managed to score at least 20 runs. Albie Morkel scored 18 runs from 11 balls and Wayne Parnell managed to contribute 17 runs.
South Africa made 128/7 in their 20 overs.
Australian bowlers kept the scoring rate low throughout the South African innings. Proteas batsmen did not score many boundaries as T20 game demands. Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell and Brad Hogg took two wickets each whereas Moises Henriques got one wicket.
In reply, Australia reached their target with five overs to spare. Opener Aaron Finch made a solid 39 runs from 27 balls whereas star all rounder Shane Watson made 35 from 28 balls. Glenn Maxwell scored 17 runs to see the Kangaroos home.
Mitchell Starc was named the Man of the Match whereas Quinton de Kock was named the Man of the Series.
Australia won the three match T20 International series 2-0. The first match was washed out without a ball being bowled.
