Australia wrap up second consecutive ODI series win against England

SYDNEY: Australia crushed England in the third ODI with a easy victory by 7 wickets at Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday wrapping up their second consecutive ODI series victory over England in the minimum three matches, ARY News reported.

England winning the toss decided to bat first, their skipper Alastair Cook (35) started with hitherto unseen freedom, even striking his first six of the tour, but his dismissal with the total at 50 in the ninth over allowed Clarke to exert greater pressure and limit the flow of runs. 

English batsmen weren’t able to improvise their innings after getting good starts. Ian Bell (29), Ben Stroke(15) and Garry Balance(26) were among the top four English batsmen to went back to pavilion at the score of 121.

Eoin Morgan was the top scorer with 54 runs. While Tim Bresnan lifted the total at the finish, helping himself to a pair of sixes in Daniel Christian's final over posting 243 on the board.

Xavier Doherty, Nathan Coulter-Nile, and Maxwell all delivered useful spells 1,3 and 2 wickets respectively.

Australia's chase was not quite perfect, as no batsman made a hundred and wickets were lost to loose strokes.

David Warner played aggressively and got out at 71. Shaun Marsh remained unbeaten at 71 along with Brad Haddin(35).

Australia chased the score at the end of 40th over with the run rate 6.10 runs per over.
