Australian high commissioner lauds Pakistan role for global peace

KARACHI Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Margaret Adamson, has said the relations between the two countries dates back to the time of creation of Pakistan, ARY News reported Friday.

Addressing a gathering in Karachi, Ms Adamson said a Pakistani-origin woman was also a member of the Australian cabinet. She recalled that the relations of Australia with Staff College Quetta were even dated back to 1910.

She appreciated the Pakistan’s role in UN peace mission for a global peace.

Mentioning the popular Pakistan Super League, the Australian HC said PSL had become a successful event as it featured some of the top foreign players who played in Pakistan.

She said PSL would play a major role in bringing international cricket back to Pakistan.

Margaret Adamson said the visit of West Indian cricket team to Pakistan sent a very positive message to the world about the country. She hoped that other teams would soon make it to Pakistan thus making it a beginning of revival of the international cricket.

The Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Margaret Adamson had also congratulated the people of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan Day (March 23).

In her message, Adamson said Australia and Pakistan have much in common; adding Pakistanis living in Australia call the country as their home. The ambassador said our commonwealth and cricketing heritage also hold an immense importance.

“Our cultural diversity, including over 60,000 Pakistani Australians who call Australia home, and our shared commitment to interfaith harmony deserves a mention”, she added.
