Australian Open: Federer outshines Murray to reach semi-final
MELBOURNE: Roger Federer booked his berth for the semi final of Australian open with a victory over Andy Murray in Melbourne on Wednesday, ARY News reported.
This was their 21st meeting and the first time Murray was the higher ranked but Federer dominated the game with the 6-3 6-4 6-7 (6/8) 6-3 victory.
Federer served for a straight-sets win but the fourth seed, Andy Murray threatened a miracle comeback in the third set and held two match points in the tie-break, however in the fourth set Swiss with some quality back hand overwhelmed Murray with a 6-3 win.
Federer will face his old rival Rafael Nadal in the semi-final of Australian Open.
