LAHORE: Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri announced that his party will stage a demonstration in Lahore against Model Town incident on Friday (today), ARY News reported.

Qadri made the announcement in ARY News program ’11th Hour’ hosted by Waseem Badami. The PAT chief said that he will address the party’s protest demonstration.

“We are fighting the war of Model Town martyrs and innocent victims. We will not back down from our legal and constitutional rights.”

Qadri stated that their struggle is for the accountability of powerful people and providing justice to the weak. The Awami Tehreek chairman stated that he believes truth will prevail.

In his reply to a question, the PAT chief stated that demonstrations are repeatedly staged to remind the country of an issue.

He added that invitations have been sent to other political parties for attending the protest.

“It is likely that I will announce the party’s strategy for the future, after which we will start consultations with party workers and masses,” Qadri said.

The Awami Tehreek chairman said that everyone knows that who is responsible for the Model Town carnage.

It should be noted that PAT had announced protests against Punjab Government over Model Town incident from 27th January, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

It should be noted that 14 people, including several PAT workers had lost their lives in clashes with Punjab Police in Lahore’s Model Town area on 17th June 2014.

Qadri repeatedly said that the government institutions have failed to provide justice to the families of the victims of the incident.

He termed Model Town incident “state terrorism” and vowed that he will knock all doors to find justice for the victims.

The PAT chairman had also vowed to raise the issue of Model Town incident with European Union (EU) and International Human Rights Commission.
