Bahawalpur: Seven die as bus falls from bridge

BAHAWALPUR: At least seven passengers of a bus died and 29 others were injured when the vehicle fell from an overhead bridge in Bahawalpur region, ARY News reported on Friday.

The Karachi bound bus from Vehari fell from an overhead bridge while taking a sharp turn at the National Highway near Channi Goth stop in Uch Sharif, resulting in death of seven people, while 29 others sustained injuries, rescue sources said.

The rescue teams reached to the spot and retrieved the dead bodies and injured people after cutting the iron body of the bus with the help of a gas cutter.

Two injured including the driver were transferred to Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur in a precarious condition. Moreover, 16 injured have been admitted at tehsil headquarters hospital Ahmedpur East and other 13 at Rural Health Centre Channi Goth, officials said.
