QUETTA: A female member of provincial assembly of Balochistan was criticised for bringing her child to the assembly, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Mahjabeen was not only criticised by fellow MPAs but one of them even asked her to leave the assembly hall with the child. Upon hearing this, the mother’s eyes got filled with tears.

“For a working woman to focus on her work, it is essential that she has her child with her. I had to hear a lot at the same instant,” she said.

Female leaders carrying their babies are appreciated around the world. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who expressed solidarity with Muslims over the Christchurch attack, had arrived at the United Nations assembly session with her baby boy and nobody had criticised her. There are numerous other examples in the world in which politicians have brought their infants to assemblies.
