Bandit who killed himself in Lahore was involved in criminal activities: SP

LAHORE: Superintendent of Police, Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), Usman Bajwa said on Wednesday that cops today raided a hideout in Harbanspura on a tip-off and arrested a suspect involved in robberies and several other crimes, ARY News reported.

The SSP said the arrested criminal threatened to police to give him a safe passage or brace for the ‘worst’. The criminal then shot himself and died.

He confirmed that the culprit was involved in several criminal activities.

Meanwhile, the SP also informed that an employee of a private company was arrested on charges of snatching cash from someone. “After his house was checked by the police, a bag filled with cash was recovered and a motorcycle used in the crime was also found.”

The man was also accused of killing his wife, two brother-in-laws and father-in-law in 2007. The SSP said the culprit neither used to keep a cellphone nor did he have a national identity card.

A suspected criminal had allegedly shot himself after an encounter with police in Lahore’s Mehar Fayaz Colony on Wednesday.

The Crime Investigation Agency personnel raided a hideout of the suspect named Ghulam Bari. Upon seeing a police party, he opened fire at it in a bid to escape.

However, he shot himself after he found himself surrounded by the police personnel and his desperate attempts to flee from the scene proved futile. The suspected criminal was required in various criminal cases, including robberies.
